I am always looking for books written by pastors’ wives for pastors’ wives and was recently made aware of one by Shelley Pierce, Sweet Moments. I believe every pastor’s wife, no matter the age or how many years they have been in ministry, will benefit from this book. Shelley is very down to earth and shares some great insights from her own ministry journey.
She stood before me with wide eyes and an open heart. She would soon marry the love of her life. She had one question of me: “What advice will you give me before I marry into the ministry?”
Of course I didn’t say that. Truth be told, I wanted to cry for her. Young and in love and clueless as to the days and years ahead. Instead of telling her to run like the wind, I gave her the best biblical advice possible…
Life as a pastor’s wife has been a lot of fun, filled with new friendships and many learning opportunities. This life has also brought much heartache. I suppose we could say it is the best of times, it is the worst of times.
With each lesson learned, I have thought of you and wondered–are you all alone and longing for a friend? Are you earlobe deep in ministry and wondering where your joy went? Are you enjoying this distinct calling? Do you know how very special you are to God?
Welcome to Sweet Moments! It’s time to put your feet up and allow me to minister to you. Let our friendship begin.
Shelley and her husband, James line in the mountains of East Tennessee where he pastors in the town of Greenville. She serves alongside him on staff as Director of Preschool and Children’s Ministries. Together they raised four children and now enjoy the gift of grandchildren.
Married into ministry over thirty-seven years, Shelley has a passion for reaching out to what some refer to as “the loneliest woman in the church.” Drawing from life and God’s word, she offers encouragement for the journey.
I believe Shelley’s book will be an encouragement to you and I know many of you could have written some of the same stories. Remember we are not in this journey alone!
